Yearning and Living: Audrey Assad

What leads us all is the yearning to live our Fully Dimensional Lives. Audrey Assad’s song captures that yearning.

You might recognize one source of images she uses to capture that desire of our hearts: the Beatitudes of Jesus. The image of those who hunger for God comes from Matthew 5:6.

The other reference in her song is the phrase, “Further up and further in.” This is one of my favorite lines from C.S. Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia. It comes from the final book in the series, The Last Battle. After going through the last days of Narnia all the characters we have met and come to love continue their journey with God. The cry is “further up and further in.” This is the invitation to spend all of eternity going higher and deeper into the infinite love of God.

I just love that!
